St. John’s Catholic Church, Gidan Kurma is one of the indigenous Hausa parish communities in Sokoto diocese. With the exception of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Funtua and a fraction of St. Vincent Ferrer’s Catholic Church Malunfashi. Malunfashi deanery is composed predominately of Hausa speaking communities. It is one of the homes of the Maguzawas.

Few days after the Cathedraticum was kicked off at Kebbi Deanery, the Bishop move to Katsina Deanery for the continuation of the annual Cathedraticum.

This possibly propels him to continue to work for peace and conflict resolution despite the murky waters of Nigerian politics.

Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, has released statement explaining his role in the October 11 meeting  at Abeokuta were he among other clerics brokered peace between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar.

Our attention has drawn to a misleading article on the purported Islamization of Catholic Bishops by one Pastor Amos Abella Musa of the Redeemed Church of Christ in Bauchi, Bauchi State which is making the rounds on social media platforms. The piece is actually not worth responding to because it demonstrates the lack of depth of what Christianity is all about and the role of the Church in interfaith relations.
