Sokoto Diocese celebrates Marian Year in Deaneries

The 2017 Marian Year as proclaimed by the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) which was flagged of in the Dioceses across the nation was recently celebrated at deanery levels of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto during the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Tuesday, 15th of August.

The celebration of the Marian Year in the various deaneries started with a Rosary Procession, Confession and then the Holy Mass.

Bishop Kukah, Integrity Women visits the orphanage home

The Integrity Women Foundation; a Christian group of Women established since 2002 visited the orphanage home under the leadership of The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, His Lordship, Most Rev Dr. Mathew Hassan Kukah with The Wife of the Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Justice, His Royal Highness Southern Kaduna and the Members of Mariya Aminu Waziri group on 22nd July.

Dedication of new Sacristy and Offices in St. Kevin Gidan Dare

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, His Lordship, Most Rev Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah on this day officially opened a new structure which comprises of : A Standard Sacristy, The Priests and The Catechists office, Vesting Room for Choristers, Lectors and Altar Servers, Vesting Room for the Priests and a Restroom at St. Kevin Catholic Church Gidan-dare, Sokoto state.

USAID Mission Director Mr. Haykin visits Bishop Kukah

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director, Mr. Stephen M Haykin today paid a courtesy visit to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah in his office at St. Bakhita Secretariat, Sokoto State.

Mr. Haykin with his entourage who also met with the Diocesan Justice Development Peace and Caritas (JDPC) team lauds the community development initiative of the organization especially the "Feed the Future" programme.

Bishop Kukah confirms 70 Candidates on Feast of Pentecost

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Kukah has administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to Seventy (70) Candidates during the celebration of the Feast of Pentecost at Holy Family Cathedral today.

Rev Fr, Patrick Alumuku ‘the communication director of Abuja Archdiocese’  during the homily gave a brief explanation of what the Pentecost is all about and why it's been commemorated. 

“Pentecost Sunday is a feast which marks fifty (50) days after the Resurrection.

Bishop Kukah, Legionaries visits the sick on Easter Sunday

To express the Easter joy, The Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Most Rev Dr. Matthew Kukah with Legion of Mary Society, Sokoto Diocese today visited patients in two health centres: Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospital Kware LGA and Amanawa Leprosarium.

The annual visitation which witnessed its fourth year was led by Bishop Kukah and Bro Emmanuel Igono, City of Refuge Comitium President.

The team which was well received at both hospitals donated relief items to the in-patients.
